I Bought a 3DS

Ever since my old coral pink 3DS's left shoulder button broke at the start of the year, I have been looking for a console to replace it. In recent years, 3DS prices have skyrocketed to the point where they now could be considered an investment, with good condition new 3DS XL consoles often reaching over $ 400 AUD when they originally sold in Australia for $ 249.95 AUD, so I wanted to get the right console.

3DS family is very large, so choosing the right model is very important. My requirements were 3d and a large screen; this immediately ruled out the 3DS, new 3DS, 2DS, and new 2DS XL, leaving me to pick between the new 3DS XL and the 3DS XL. Not wanting to waste money, I headed straight to Facebook Marketplace, eBay, and Sendico to look at listings for these consoles in poor condition.

After months of looking, I found this unit for $350AUD on Marketplace with lots of cosmetic damage on the top, a cracked bottom plate, a damaged charging port, and no stylus.

I went on AliExpress to look up how much these parts would cost and found I can easily find replacements for a sum of around $50AUD, so I sent an offer of around $300AUD, and he accepted.

I will be ordering my parts off AliExpress, but in the meantime, have gone through and homebrewed it (follow 3ds.hacks.guide if you want to do that) and placed some of my favorite games on it as well as some i am excited to try, as well as set up pretendo which allows you to go online in these games, and netpass which lets you do streetpass over the internet.
